Rusted Iron, Restored to Life

Cascadia Cast Iron brings vintage and modern cookware back from rust and neglect — stripped, cleaned, and hand-seasoned right here in Montavilla.

The process

4 Stages, in Order — Nothing Skipped.

Every piece goes through the same sequence, whether it's headed back to you or into inventory.

01

Intake

Every piece is logged, tagged, and inspected before anything touches a bath — noting existing wear or damage so nothing gets lost between drop-off and pickup.

02

Cleaning

Old grease, carbon buildup, and grime are broken down and lifted away, prepping the piece for rust treatment.

03

Rust Removal

Rust is fully removed using our current restoration methods, without damaging or pitting the iron underneath.

04

Restored

Hand-seasoned with three rounds of grapeseed oil, built up in thin layers and baked between coats for a durable, cook-ready finish.

About

Started With 1 Skillet at a Thrift Store.

Cascadia Cast Iron is run by Bryan, a Portland journalist and small business owner who started restoring pans as a side habit — finding neglected pieces at estate sales and thrift stores around the city and bringing them back to life. That grew into a proper restoration service, now available for pieces you already own, including family heirlooms with more sentimental value than resale value.

Every piece, whether it's a flip headed for a new kitchen or your grandmother's skillet, goes through the same four-stage process and comes back seasoned and ready to cook on.
